Limestone Coast
The Limestone Coast is full of amazing places...where else can you climb a volcano, taste world-class wines, dine on seafood straight from the ocean, explore heritage-listed caves and enjoy fine accommodation in sleepy little fishing towns. We've explored some fantastic four wheel drive tracks including a spin around the bowl in Beachport Conservation Park and some ruggedly challenging day-drives along the Coorong. For those who enjoy a spot of deep-water fishing there are tour operators based in most coastal towns and for wine connoisseurs, an overnight stay (at least!) in the fabulous Coonawarra is a must. The jewel in the south-east crown would have to be the stunning Blue Lake in Mount Gambier which turns brilliant cobalt blue by November and reverts to a slate-grey in March. This region also delights birdwatchers who travel from around the globe each year to visit Bool Lagoon, The Coorong and numerous other coastal reserves and wetlands which shelter countless migratory and native birds each year.
