Chris Dittmar checks into the new Playford Whyalla. A significant property in the heart of South Australia's mining city. The former hotel had been closed for a long time and was quite rundown when new owners took on the task of renovating and restoring the heritage-listed property. Once there were 60 rooms but now they've all been converted into 16 very spacious and stylish apartments complete with lounge / kitchen area, separate bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms.
Also in Whyalla, OneSteel have recently recommenced their tours giving visitors a behind the scenes look at steel production. Tours depart from the Whyalla Visitors Centre on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays at 9.30am, bookings are essential.
